Why train rather than teach ?
Because training is like sculpting – your body or a stautue or any other object – you can shape constantly and persistently, repeating and practicing on a regular basis. As a friend of mine said to me once,
“shaping the words around the mold created by their intent so that the ideas may come to life like they already do in the minds of their creators.”
Reminds you of anybody? The process is very much like a sculptor’s—an artist in an artisan’s body, chipping away at the rock diligently and purposefully until the image reveals itself.
“THE SCULPTURE IS ALREADY COMPLETE WITHIN THE MARBLE BLOCK, BEFORE I START MY WORK. IT IS ALREADY THERE, I JUST HAVE TO CHISEL AWAY THE SUPERFLUOUS MATERIAL.”
Michelangelo knew it , his words can also refer to our capacity to speak: we are all born with that capacity, and although our skills and innate gift for languages vary from speaker to speaker, everybody has already the necessary tools to learn: all you need is a trainer which teaches you how.
